Nestled along the picturesque canal at The Stone, The Wharf in Newbury, "The Teashop by the Canal" is a delightful cafe that captures the essence of relaxation and culinary charm. With its inviting atmosphere and friendly staff, it has quickly become a favorite among both locals and visitors. Customers rave about the stunning views of the canal and its resident swans, making it an idyllic spot for a leisurely break. The menu, while somewhat limited, focuses on quality and freshness. Olive U praised their cheese, roasted tomato, and onion chutney toastie, noting the generous portions and reasonable prices. Breakfast options are equally enticing, crafted with care and served promptly. Kath highlighted the cafe’s flexibility with dietary restrictions, especially an impressive gluten-free afternoon tea that showcases homemade delights. The tea selection, as Xavia Lindsey noted, is both delicious and well-prepared, making each sip a delight. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick bite or a leisurely cup of tea, The Teashop by the Canal consistently delivers great service and mouth-watering dishes. If you’re in Newbury, this charming retreat is a must-visit for its scrumptious offerings and serene ambiance.

Such a cute spot for a quick break and some food. Lovely view of the canal and the swans. Staff were so attentive and friendly. The food was good at a reasonable price - a good portion. I got the cheese, roasted tomato and onion chutney toastie for 7.90 which came with crisps and a salad too, and I think that is a fair price. Sandwiches are offered on white or granary bread. I would say that the lunch menu is quite limited, which is understandable when the food is being freshly made upon order, however there is still a bit of variety. Would definitely go again!

My favourite place in Newbury to have a relaxing cup of tea by the canal. Particularly if the sun is out. Breakfast is fabulous too. Everything cooked fresh to order. Lovely staff too. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The most gorgeous cafe right on the river! I’ve been there sooo many times and every time the service was fantastic and the food was delicious. The staff are brilliant with gluten free too - lots of choice and super tasty! In fact, I went for afternoon tea and they produced an ENTIRELY gluten free platter, of which everything was home made! Absolutely love it here, thanks so much! Xx

We found this place by chance when trying to get somewhere that met half way between our friend group. What a great find! We had lots of dietary requirements for our afternoon tea and they were really accommodating. Lovely atmosphere and staff were so friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back again

Lovely place by the canal, with picturesque views and aesthetic interior. The tea sevice is delicious and well worth it. Sweet, but sometimes you want that! Makes a good chai too.

Lovely little cafe overlooking the canal. Food was nice - savory dishes were a nice size and tasty. Cakes were nice looking, but sadly a few were a bit dry. Service was very good, very friendly staff. Would happily return, and look forward to it. Paid car park right next door.
